A gem between thousands of moisturizers : Review of CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion

A gem between thousands of moisturizers : Review of CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion

If you have sensitive skin and you’re looking for a moisturizer that doesn’t contain food-graded for yeast ingredients such as emulsifiers, thickeners, fatty acids, polysorbates and esters, CeraVe moisturizing lotion is exactly what you need. It is a highly recommended moisturizer for people suffering from Acne, Eczema, Malassezia Folliculitis, Psoriasis and any other skin complications. When I saw that this product has Hyaluronic acid in the ingredient base and that it was also on promotional offer at Boots (3 for 1), I jumped right into it. I never thought that it would become my everyday go-to moisturizer.

Here is the full list of ingredients

Purified Water, Glycerin, Ceteareth-20 And Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Behentrimonium Methosulfate And Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Ceramide 3, Ceramide 6-II, Ceramide 1, Hyaluronic Acid, Cholesterol, Petrolatum, Dimethicone, Potassium Phosphate, Dipotassium Phosphate, Sodium Lauryl Lactylate, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Phyto sphingosine, Carbomer and Xanthan Gum.

I won’t make this post super long listing the pros and cons of all the ingredients. I’ve listed below all the important stuffs that you need to know.

Glycerin acts as a humectant which keeps the skin moisturized by absorbing water from the environment. Moreover, the presence of glycerin makes it a two-in-one product, functioning also as a primer. Glycerin acts as a base and glue for make-up. Moreover it prevents clogging of pores.

Ceramide is a magical ingredient that helps to repair skin damage, regulates and ensures water retention thus leaves you with a soft and hydrated skin. Why do we all crave the baby skin? That’s because their skin is full of Ceramides which we unfortunately lose as we age. CeraVe moisturizer is packed with Ceramide 3, Ceramide 6-11 and Ceramide 1 contributing towards that perfect skin.

Hyaluronic Acid attracts hydration to the skin surface and allows it to hold its water weight by 1000 times. It helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles while also allowing blemishes and wounds to heal quicker.

Don’t be scared of alcohol, Cetearyl is considered as ‘good alcohol’ and it acts as a de-tackifier to smoothen the product.

Caprylic is coconut oil but without Lauric fatty acid. This ensures that the product stays liquid for use instead of solidifying. It also makes the product adaptable and blends easily into different skin types.

My skin type

For information, I have sensitive combination skin. My forehead and nose area get oily throughout the day while the area around the mouth is dry. Previously the area around my mouth used to get so dry in winter to the point that it would leave me with wounds and highly-pigmented skin. This is my first winter without breakouts, skin damage or pigmentation (apart from sun-tan). I can even go to bed now applying only some face serum on lazy days without fearing that I’ll wake up with parched skin. This moisturizer is one of the products that you would classify as life-changing and life-simplifying. I absolutely love how healthy my skin is now.

More about CeraVe Moisturizing lotion

CeraVe moisturizer doesn’t leave your skin greasy, it goes well into the skin and leaves a perfectly hydrated smooth skin. Compared to other moisturizers, I don’t have to block oil throughout the day. Another good thing about it is it comes with a pump dispenser which helps control the amount of product that comes out. You only need a gentle pump for the whole face. It is fragrance free.

To be honest, I’ve splurged in a number of moisturizers, some that I bought at high prices before finding the one that works for my skin. This product is a gem at low cost.
